The National Early College Initiative describes early college high schools as schools that provide an opportunity for higher education attainment for low-income youth, first-generation college goers, English language learners, students of color, and other young people underrepresented in higher education. By the end of early college high school, students earn a high school diploma and Associate’s degree at no cost to the student.
