Most inspiring moment
In one of the sessions speaking on positive family impact and involvement for student success, a parent stood up during the Q&A section and stated that she had lost 2 children to gang violence and had two more children in upper middle school. Losing her children even before the actual violence showed her the need for a whole family in the home as she was a single mom. As a result of this understanding, she sought after the father of all of her children and began a new conversation with him regarding just collaboration and presence in the home. Over time the father was compelled by her courage and their need for family to move back in and they were married and now are a whole unit with complete focus on strong educational and successful futures for their remaining children. (The father was present at the conference as well).
