The purpose of The Brown Foundation, Inc. is to distribute funds for public charitable purposes, specifically for support, encouragement, and assistance to education, the arts, and community service. The Brown Foundation’s current emphasis is in the field of public education at the primary and secondary levels.
Because there is no a set grant amount (amount requested is to be determined by the applicant), this grant potentially could fund Career & College Clubs not only at your individual school, but your entire district. Last year, grant amounts ranged from $1,000 to $100,000.
The Foundation is interested in funding projects which fulfill one or more of the following criteria (Career & College Clubs could fulfill all of the following criteria):
- Addressing root causes of a concern rather than treating symptoms.
- Serving as a catalyst to stimulate collaborative efforts by several sectors of the community.
- Resulting in growing, long-lasting impact on the situation beyond the value of the grant itself.
- Reflecting and encouraging sound financial planning and solid management practices in administration of the project.
Review and processing of grant applications occur monthly, with no deadlines. The trustees will consider only one application from an organization within a twelve month period.
