On Friday, January 6, 2017, first lady Michelle Obama, honored the 2017 School Counselor of the Year in a ceremony at the White House. We at Career & College Clubs could not think of a better way for her to formally exit her role as FLOTUS. Mrs. Obama, also sent young people a strong message of hope and encouragement that resonates Career & College Clubs’ stance on student empowerment.
“Be empowered. Empower yourselves with a good education and then get out there and use that education to build a country worthy of your boundless promise.”
The following statement was released by the White House, “As part of her Reach Higher initiative, Mrs. Obama has championed school counselors and encouraged post-secondary education for students across the country. Awardees from all 50 states are selected by the American School Counselor Association, based on criteria including: creative school counseling innovations, effective school counseling programs, leadership skills, and contributions to student enhancement. “
Career & College Clubs works closely with counselors who implement our program and join Mrs. Obama in congratulating this year’s winners.
